Given the way we already treat our planet and the life on it, humans will likely become a version of the (insert evil alien race from show or movie) that travels the universe consuming resources and hunting/ farming/ enslaving "lesser beings".

You either die the hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I think Jesus said that.
